Born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas, Jon is a writer and educator. After earning his undergraduate degrees (BA-English & BA-History) from the University of North Texas, Jon was the recipient of a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award, a fellowship worth $150,000 for graduate studies in the Arts. With this award, Jon moved to New York City and attended the MFA program for Fiction Writing at NYU. He obtained his MFA in 2016 and has since worked as a writing tutor, editor, freelance copywriter, and full-time Middle and High School teacher.

Recently, Jon turned his attention to writing screenplays. His scripts have won or placed in the Dallas International Film Festival Screenwriting Contest, the Los Angeles International Screenwriting Competition, the Screencraft Screenwriting Fellowship, and remain in competition for numerous other awards. These projects range from mystery-thrillers to high-school dramedies to supernatural horrors.

When not teaching or writing, Jon enjoys time in the sun, the twisty-turny nature of crime movies, and cold coffees year round. He listens to Beethoven at the same volume he listens to Parliament-Funkadelic and maintains a healthy obsession with the NBA (go Mavs!).
